Christopher Rodriguez was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Before moving to London he worked as assistant director and producer on his plays performed in Port of Spain (CLEAR WATER, LIFE IS A DRAG, WHAT A NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS). He worked as assistant script editor at BBC Radio Drama, as Writer in Residence at the Oval House Theatre (INDEPENDENCE DAY, 2000; EQUIANO, 2001)and, during an attachment to the Royal National Theatre Studio, wrote LOSING THE RACE, now being developed by Hampstead Theatre and Birmingham Rep.
Christopher has had eight plays staged around the UK including the Bite festival at the Barbican Pit (CLEAR WATER, 2000), Theatre Royal Stratford East (HIGH HEEL PARROTFISH, 2005), Manchester Green Rooms, Liverpool Everyman. He was chief writer on ITSY BITSY - Queen Elizabeth Hall, 2001and, most recently, contributed to MANGINA MONOLOGES at Soho Theatre, February 2009.
His radio play, A PARANDERO IS MISSING, part of A Carribean Night, was broadcast on BBC R3 in 2001.
He was winner of a Cacique Award (Trinidad and Tobago’s Drama Awards) for Best Original Script - INDEPENDENCE DAY - and CLEAR WATER was short-listed for the International New Playwriting Awards sponsored by the British Council.
He is Executive Producer for Talawa Theatre Co.
