GAGARIN WAY

by Gregory Burke

Gagarin Way, a cruel funny first play about a human heist gone terribly wrong was premiered at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, and the Royal National Theatre, London in 2001.

'I've always been interested in violence. Always…ken…really enjoyed it. I tried all the gratuitous stuff, the recreational violence, ken, the leathering folk just for the sheer, amoral pleasure…seen as how I'm a bit more mature, I thought I should, ken, try something way a point…it maybe more satisfying - violence way a reason.'

'Gregory Burke's blistering, brilliant, crazily confident first play…a ton of theatrical dynamite…this is the real thing and no fraud.'
Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

'[Burke's] energetic dialogue hits one right between the eyes with the force of its sharp intelligence and wit.
Jane Edwardes, Time Out

'A distinctive voice and a bold talent, well worth listening to'
Georgina Brown, The Mail on Sunday

'No British playwright has written better, more funnily, more succinctly or with less sentimentality.
Joyce McMillan, The Scotsmen

GAGARIN WAY is published by Faber and Faber
