Stuart Paterson's adaptation of this story about Michael, a young boy who goes on a fantastic sailing adventure with his parents around the world is currently showing at The Birmingham Stage Theatre until 28th January 2006 when it will begin a national tour around the UK until August 2006.

Michael and his parents' sailing dream becomes a nightmare when the boat is hit by a terrifying storm and Michael is thrown into the sea. Washed up on an island in the Pacific, his fight for survival has only just begun and soon he is to make a startling discovery. This island is already home to one extraordinary man – and this is Kensuke’s kingdom!
