Rudy Percival is a composer and theatre practitioner. Recent projects include a collaboration with novelist Michael Morpurgo and playwright Vicki Berwick on a new theatrical adaptation of Morpurgo’s The Mozart Question (Barn Theatre, Cirencester), and his new musical, Between (Silk Street Theatre, Barbican, London), which was selected as one of the premiere productions for the National Student Drama Festival’s online ‘HUB’.
Rudy’s instrumental compositions have been played by ensembles and soloists such as Quatuor Bozzini (Highlands), Heather Roche (Uncanny Valley), EXAUDI and Ben Smith. His orchestral piece, Drifting, Dancing was awarded the 2021 Ian Horsbrugh Memorial Prize for Composition.
Credits as a musical director include A Perfect Christmas (Above The Stag, London) and Little Shop of Horrors (Barn Theatre, Cirencester). He has also provided keyboard programming for productions of Merrily We Roll Along (Silk Street Theatre) and Bring It On (Bird College, London).
Rudy trained in composition, scriptwriting and voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is currently studying for his Master’s in Composition at the Royal Academy of Music. Additional awards include the 2017 Environmusic Composition Prize, and the 2019 and 2020 Henry Wood Scholarship. Rudy is supported by the Arts Society Corinium, Lumb’s Educational Foundation, the Cirencester Soroptimists Society and the Cirencester Society in London.
