Sir Matthew Bourne's THE MIDNIGHT BELL Announced

Olivier, Tony & Drama Desk Award-winning choreographer Sir Matthew Bourne has just announced a new ballet inspired by Patrick Hamilton's novel THE MIDNIGHT BELL. Set in 1930s London, it will explore the lives of the regulars at pubs and bars in Soho and Fitzrovia.

The book was the first in Hamilton's Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky trilogy, and follows Bob, the barman at the titular Midnight Bell pub. In the hustle and bustle of London, the pub becomes a safe haven for one particular lonely-hearts club as they play out their lovelorn affairs of the heart; bitter comedies of longing, frustration, betrayal and redemption.

After opening in Cheltenham on 9 September, the show will tour to Brighton, Sheffield, Dartford, York, London, Leicester, Playhouse, Oxford, Truro, Warwick, Inverness and Bath, ending in late November. Find out more here.
